EVANDER – A 43-year-old man was arrested near Shandoni Mine where Evander Police had a stop-and-search operation on Tuesday, 27 October.
Evander Police spokesman, Sgt Sibusiso Mbuli, said the suspect from eMbalenhle was found with five 20 litres of diesel in his car.
It is suspected the diesel was stolen from Shandoni Mine.
Truck drivers have opened several cases of theft after diesel was emptied from their trucks at the Shandoni Mine.
It is alleged that criminals cut the fence of the mine, enter the premise and steal the diesel from the trucks.
The suspect will appear in the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 28 October.
