One person dies in car accident

VW Polo crashes into rear of police van.

KINROSS – A woman died in a car accident involving a VW Polo and a police van in the early hours of Saturday, 31 October in Rasool Malek Street.

A three-year-old child who was travelling in the VW Polo, was critically injured and was admitted to the Mediclinic Highveld.

The driver of the VW Polo, apparently the deceased’s boyfriend, sustained minor injuries.

The police van slowed down when they noticed a car parked in the middle of the road.

Officers instructed the driver to move the car.

It is alleged that the VW Polo crashed into the rear of the van, about 200 metres from the deceased’s house.

The police van later crashed into the overhaul truck that was parked on the side of the road.

Kinross Police Station Commander, Mr Philemon Matlala, confirmed the accidents and death of the woman.

The three police officers who were in the police van sustained minor injuries.

Mr Matlala said a case of culpable homicide was opened.
