Wind blows tavern’s roof off

He said they saw the ceiling caving in and the customers, sitting outside, told them the roof was on the road

A strong wind blew off three quarters of a tavern’s roof between Stanwest and Sharpeville on 11 November.

According to the tavern manager, Mr Mikhail Ramdharie, there were seven people, including the employees, in the tavern.

He said they saw the ceiling caving in and the customers, sitting outside, told them the roof was on the road.

Mr Ramdharie also said it will cost them R42 000 to replace the roof.

No one was injured during the incident.

The tavern was not the only place where the wind played a role.

A tree also fell on the fence of the Atec Centre on the same day.
