Employees accuse Humana of corruption
Humana manager says they do not condone corruption.

HIGHVELD – Humana People to People is a non-profit organisation that was established to respond to the socio-economic needs of underprivileged South Africans.
Humana People to People manages projects, such as Total Control of the Epidemic, Hope Humana, Child Aid, Farmers’ Clubs, Humana Second Hand and Pre-schools of the Future.
Their projects are implemented in partnership with Government, non-governmental organisations, business and donor agencies.
This organisation that has field workers in the Govan Mbeki Municipal area, is being accused of hiring people without the necessary required documents.
Some of their employees said they were required to have an identity document and a matric certificate, but were surprised that some of their supervisors do not have these documents and cannot write.
“It is unfair, because these people are being trained to help people with different diseases and also offer counselling.
“How are they going to assist people if they cannot write?” asked an employee.
Some employees said Humana People to People officials helped some of the employees who are not South African citizens to get forged documents in order to occupy positions such as special forces.
It is alleged that some of the employees’ contracts were not renewed because they did not have proper documentation.
The Ridge Times contacted Humana People to People and was referred to one of the managers, Mr Niels Matthiessen, who said Humana People to People does not condone corruption.
“We are looking into the matters raised,” said Mr Matthiessen.
