The thieves stole airtime vouchers worth R400 and cigarettes valued at R700.
They also stole R1 200 from the till and fled the scene.
They left him laying on the floor and the neighbours called the police and the ambulance.
He was admitted to the Standerton Hospital and later reported the attack to the police.
