Gert Sibande College welcomes students’ results
College produced two students with six distinctions each.
EVANDER – Gert Sibande College Evander campus received their results for the examinations written in October and November.
Evander campus manager Mr Jannie Pretorius, said the college is pleased with the students’ outstanding performances.
The campus performed at an average subject pass rate of 87,8 per cent for the National Certificate, the Vocational (NCV) courses.
They also produced two students who achieved six distinctions each.
The NCV course is a three-year qualification course that focuses on vocational training.
On completion, the qualification is equal to a Grade 12 qualification.
Examinations at all TVET colleges are external examinations, set by the Department of Higher Education and Training.
The pass rates for the NCV qualification is also quite strict.
In mathematics and mathematical literacy, the pass rate is 30 per cent, English and life orientation is 40 per cent and all other subjects is 50 per cent.
As a campus in the TVET sector, Evander campus believes that it is of the utmost importance to be responsive to the skills needs in the country, but also the skills needs of the local community.
“For that reason, we have introduced a new study programme, Transport and Logistics.
“This programme was identified as one of the scarce skills in South Africa,” said Mr Jannie Pretorius.
