Head-on crash leaves one injured

Emergency workers are still on the scene and the road has been closed off.

A gas tanker and BMW collided head-on on the P185 between the Ext22 traffic lights and the pedestrian bridge this evening, August 20, at around 19:15.

According to workers on the scene, the BMW’s engine was ripped from the vehicle on impact and landed in the nearby field, setting the grass alight.

A second car, a Range Rover, then also crashed into the wreckages. Residents in nearby houses described hearing a loud blast when the vehicles collided.

Firefighters have exstinguished the flames and ER24 ambulance services rushed the seriously injured BMW driver to hospital. Emergency workers are still on the scene and the road has been closed off.
