SECUNDA – Lt Bettina Zondo from Secunda Police Station thanked HAPS Security for helping the police fight crime.
The company received a signal of an alarm going off on 4 January.
The phoned the owner of the house who was on vacation.
He asked the person who was looking after the house to check what was wrong.
He went to check with a person from the security company.
When they were inside the house, they heard a cell-phone ringing inside the roof.
They climbed into the roof and found a 23-year-old man.
He apparently gained entry to the house by breaking a window and removing the burglar bars.
The police were called and the burglar was arrested.
He appeared in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on 5 January where he was denied bail.
