Sasol hands over low cost houses
Sasol said it is determined to develop locals.
Ms Daisy Khalishwayo was delighted to be among the first group of recipients of Sasol’s low cost houses.
She was among 16 first-time home owners who received their houses from Sasol on Monday, 1 February.
She could not find the words to express her joy and was looking forward to a great future with he family in their new house.
The housing project formed part of Sasol Mining’s Social and Labour Plan which aims at improving the living conditions of its mining employees in the surrounding communities.
Mr Alex Anderson, head of Group Media Relations, said working with First National Bank, Sasol Mining employees are guided and assisted through the rigorous process of becoming an approved bond owner.
“They are also taught financial planning and management to ensure they are able to pay their subsidised home loans.”
The 16 houses were the first of 100 planned in eMbalenhle and an additional 100 similar styled houses are planned for Secunda and Sasolburg.
Ten more houses have already been built in Secunda and are in the process of being sold to qualifying mining employees.
Ms Kgomotso Molobye, vice president of Human Resources: Sasol Mining, said the programme will deliver a minimum of a thousand houses.
“Sasol Mining is proud to support Government and our employees who become first-time home owners who would otherwise never have had the opportunity to become so.
“It is a heart-warming project for us and the joy we experience from each new home owner makes this project a more worthwhile experience.”
