Woman loses hand in accident

According to him, the woman who lost her right hand was sitting behind the driver in the minibus

Four people were injured when a truck collided with a minibus on the Secunda Road in the early hours of Monday morning, 29 February.

According to the Department of Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management, one of the passengers lost her hand during the accident.

Mr Jabulani Mkhwanazi of the Department of Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management said they found the hand a couple of metres away from the scene.

“It was not in good condition when found because some motorists drove over it,” he said.

According to him, she was seated behind the driver in the minibus.

The minibus was traveled from the Eastern Cape towards Secunda and the truck was travelling towards Standerton.

The other three occupants in the minibus did not sustain serious injuries.

All four of them were admitted to the Standerton Hospital.

The drivers of both vehicles were not injured.

The communications officer of the Standerton Police, Lt Fanie Nhlabathi, is on leave and a telephone call for more information only resulted in the answer that the police are investigating and a case was opened.

The Standerton Advertiser investigated and found that the Secunda Road have lines properly demarcated despite previous allegations that the reason for these accidents frequently occurring are due to no lines on the road.
