Sakhile hostel dwellers recently stopped people from moving into the new residential units after they received keys to move in.
According to them, Mr Dumisani Radebe from the Department of Human Settlements, brought people on different occasions to move into the new units.
The community refused to let them move in, saying if they can not move in, nobody will.
They have since locked the gate to the units with their own padlocks.

The dwellers claimed that they were told to move out of the old hostels because of new residential units being built for them.
About 25 families were temporarily placed in shacks and the hostels, they were staying in, were demolished.
According to them, they were told that they will move into the residential units immediately after the construction was complete.
