The Govan Mbeki Municipality will not open any consumer accounts to tenants with effect of 1 March 2016.
Municipal consumption accounts will be opened in the name of the owner only.
This will apply to all residential houses, flats, complexes and businesses.
The municipality is enhancing a process of installing bulk meters in flats, complexes and businesses.
Therefore all individual meters for flats and complexes, backroom dwellers and businesses will later be converted into one bulk meter and the same bulk consumption will be billed to the owner.
