Residents are waiting with bated breath the outcome of the negotiations between Eskom and the Lekwa Municipality.
According to Ms Thando Skosana of the Eskom Mpumalanga operating unit, the utility will consider all the submissions made and communicate the final decision in the week of 22 March.
Eskom indicated their decision last year to disconnect electricity in peak hours as from 11 April.
The municipality failed to honour the repayment agreement since October last year.
According to Eskom, Lekwa owes more than R206-million which has been outstanding and escalating since 2011.
Ms Skosana confirmed on 17 March that Eskom received a new repayment plan that is being reviewed.
