Angry South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) members escorted Mr Linda Tshabalala, Lekwa municipal manager, from the municipal building earlier today.
According to these employees, Mr Tshabalala is not supposed to come back to work until the investigations are complete.
They stopped working and disrupted a management meeting, saying they will not go back to work until he leaves the municipal offices.
“We are expecting Ms Refiloe Mtsweni, MEC of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), to report back to us on her findings after she is done investigating,” Mr Sibusiso Mdhluli, Samwu shop steward, said.
According to Mr Mdhluli, Ms Mtsweni said she was still busy with the investigations two weeks ago.
“We tried to contact her after discovering that Mr Tshabalala is back at work and could not get hold of her,” he also said.
