DA candidate kicked out of community meeting

“An ANC member asked me to leave the meeting because I belong to the DA,”

Mr Baphelele Hlatshwayo, a Ward 12 DA candidate, was recently kicked out of a community meeting.

Mr Hlatshwayo said the agenda of the meeting was not stated in the invitation they received.

According to him, the ANC members began discussing their own party issues and candidates for the upcoming local elections upon his arrival.

“An ANC member asked me to leave the meeting because I belong to the DA,” Mr Hlatshwayo said.

He also said the three rural communities within Ward 12 were not clearly told the aim of the meeting.

“They ended up being convinced to vote for someone they do not even know.”

According to him, the rural communities are always spoon-fed and not given a chance to make their own decisions.

Mr Hlatshwayo voiced his disappointment, saying the ANC is misleading the community.

According to Mr Joshua Nkosi, ANC regional secretary, the ANC had a right to ask him to leave the meeting they organised.
