SECUNDA – The Department of Labour is currently in the spotlight after numerous complaints regarding their service delivery.
Apparently people are standing in cues from as early as 6am, because the department has only one computer operator at a time serving hundreds of people.
The closing time is 4pm and if you are not one of the lucky ones to be helped, you are sent away.
Even people still queuing inside the offices are asked to leave.
A concerned resident addressed this issue with the supervisor, Ms Sophazi, who informed him that he could not be helped due to a shortage of staff.
He has been struggling since January to obtain a document from the department.
“I am not happy.
“No clear answers are given and I am told every day to return tomorrow.
“The supervisor could not give me a clear answer or a solution to this problem.”
People borrow money for transport to go to the Department of Labour, only to be sent away to return the next day.
Altogether 67 people had a sit-in at the office on 14 March, but even this did not help.
Ms Sophazi was contacted for a comment, but the Ridge Times was referred to the communications department in Witbank.
They have not yet commented.
