The South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) members have decided to wait till the investigation of Ms Refilwe Mtsweni, the MEC of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), is complete.
A group of Samwu members escorted Mr Linda Tshabalala, Lekwa municipal manager from the municipal offices on 4 April.
They claimed he was not supposed to be back at work until Ms Mtsweni’s investigation is complete.
Mr Tshabalala laid charges, including intimidation, contempt of court and damage to property, after the incident.
He could not confirm if anyone was arrested.
Another group of municipal employees, who are also Samwu members, stood up for Mr Tshabalala on 6 April, saying the union does not have a right to call for his resignation because they did not appoint him.
