Evander Police detectives praised for outstanding work
The diligent work done by two Evander Police detectives led to the arrest and conviction of a murderer.
EVANDER – Britz Ralebase (27), a Lesotho national, was sentenced in the Evander Regional Court on 13 April to 10 years in prison for murder.
The conviction and sentence stemmed from an incident on 19 April 2014 in Sakhisizwe (Enkomeni Farm) in Evander.
Visible policing officers were patrolling when they received a complaint of a shooting in Sakhisizwe.
On arrival they were informed that the victim, Mr Lehakwe Koti, had been shot and killed inside his house by unknown people.
A case of murder was opened and an investigation was launched.
Sgt July Mahlangu and Const Mathapelo Motsoeneng from Evander Police Station conducted a thorough and meticulous investigation that led to the arrest and conviction of Ralebase.
In his remarks about the docket, the prosecutor praised the exceptional work done by the two during the investigation, as well as during the trial.
Evander Police Station’s acting station commander, Capt Abraham Kobo, congratulated the sergeant and constable on a job well done.
