Rooikoppen residents have recently been living under difficult conditions with no water in the area.
According to them, only some areas have water and they do not know what the problem is.
They have to walk long distances with buckets to look for water and claimed the water trucks do supply them with water, but that it is not adequate.
According to these angry residents, no one has explained to them why their taps have run dry.
Mr Johannes van der Wath, DA Councillor, said he saw three women with buckets saying they are going to look for water.
“They had to walk 3,2km to access water in Rooikoppen,” he said.
Mr Sipho Ngwenya, Ward 11 councillor, refused to comment, saying he is not allowed to speak to the media.
He also said the office of the speaker will be able to shed some light on the matter or give some direction.
“There is no water in Rooikoppen because of the installation of a pressure reducing valve (PRV),” Ms Thobeka Mtshiselwa, Lekwa Municipality communications manager, said,
She also said the PRVs have been installed and residents have access to water now.
According to her, the municipality occasionally supplies water with water tanks when facing challenges or fixing some pipes as mentioned above.
