Mshiniwami Training Academy students want to lay charges against management

Police apparently deny students entry to police station.

SECUNDA – The students of Mshiniwami Training Academy are allegedly being denied entry to the Secunda Police Station.

This came after they had tried to lay a charge against the training academy’s management today.

However, the police are allegedly refusing to help them and said the matter must be referred to the Department of Labour.

The students said they have been without water and electricity since Thursday and that the camp’s kitchen is locked.

They said this is against their human rights and that the academy is contravening their contract.

“We are treated like mammals, the kitchen is closed and there is no water in the camp.

“While their livestock in the camp are being fed daily and their kraal has electricity, we are denied our human right to electricity, food and water,” said a student.

Management also apparently served them with notices that they should evacuate the camp by Sunday, 31 July.

For now they said they will remain outside the police station.

The Ridge Times awaits comment from the police.
