SECUNDA – A 21-year-old man was arrested on 28 August and appeared in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 7 September.
It was his first appearance and coincided with his application for bail.
The state did not oppose his application and he was released on bail of a thousand rand and was warned to reappear in court on 28 October.
He was charged with sexual assault of a minor and according to the investigating officer, the conditions of his bail are some of the strictest conditions she has ever asked for.
The conditions do not only prohibit any contact with the victim of the alleged assault and any possible state witnesses, but also provide for the accused to present himself to a police station twice a week and obtain treatment for drug addiction.
