The Standerton Advertiser reported on the arrest of a teacher from Madi Combined School in connection with drugs allegedly found at his home which resulted in a motion without notice delivered at a recent sitting of the legislature in Lekwa.
Ms Jane Sithole, DA Chief Whip in the Provincial Legislature, referred to the incident where Mr Mduduzi Dlamini, after being released on R3 000 bail, has been allowed to continue teaching.
Ms Sithole said the youth of Sakhile are plagued by a high drug problem, aggravated by not having an in-patient drug rehabilitation centre with only one state owned in-patient centre in Mpumalanga.
She called on behalf of the DA on the MEC of Education, Ms Regina Mhaule and her department to:
• Prioritise the purchasing of drug testing kits for schools in the province
• Immediately suspend Mr Dlamini until the outcome of the court case has been made public
“The ANC defeated the motion,” Ms Sithole also said.
The procedure when delivering a motion without notice, does not include any debate.
