HIGHVELD – The Mpumalanga Department of Health warned against scams in Mpumalanga about the recruitment of auxiliary nurses and nursing students for the department.
The department distanced itself from such scams.
Mr Dumisani Malamule, spokesman, said they are not recruiting auxiliary nurses and that no money is required for any job advertised or for recruitments.
He said people should be on the lookout for these two scams.
People are told to contact Thomas Mabaso from Human Resource Management in Mapumaleng regarding the recruitment of auxiliary nurses.
The number given was 079 486 2718.
“The department called this number and the person asked questions such as who gave the number and how did they heard about the recruitment.
“He also demanded to know the South African Nursing Registration Number.
“One person has already been scammed and deposited R5 000 into a bank account.
“The person contacted the head office to find out when she will begin to work, only to learn that she had been scammed.
“The department has advised the victim to report the matter to the police.”
Mr Malamule said the second scam involved the recruitment of student nurses for the Mpumalanga Nursing College.
People are called and informed that they had been selected for an interview, but before they could be considered they had to deposit money into a bank account and afterwards were given the date to go to the head office for an interview.
The department urged the public not to deposit any money for any recruitment.
Mr Malamule said the department will never demand any money from any person for job applications or recruitments and will not give an individual’s cell phone number for enquiries.
