A shack was completely destroyed in a fire after one of its occupants allegedly set it alight.
According to firefighters, a recent family dispute allegedly led to the incident.
They said there were no injuries and no fatalities.
However, the rest of the family members were left with only the clothes on their backs.
The Sakhile Police and the firefighters condemned the act, saying families must find peaceful ways of resolving disputes.
Sgt George Dhlamini, communications officer of the Sakhile Police, said family members must get a mediator if they can not resolve a issue.
He also said burning a home is not a solution to any disagreement.
“Arson is a criminal offence and may result in loss of lives,” Mr Jabulani Mkhwanazi of the Department of Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management said.
The firefighters confirmed that a case of arson was opened at the Sakhile Police Station.
