A recent accident between an International Eagle Truck and a Toyota Hilux bakkie on the R23 to Johannesburg, claimed the life of a six-year-old girl, Kuhle Jiyane.
Mr André Jordaan, member of the Commando Care Unit, responded to the call at 5.53pm notifying them of the accident.
According to Mr Jordaan, the Toyota Hilux with four passengers was on its way to Johannesburg when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the right side of the oncoming truck which was heading in the direction of Standerton.
The little girl was certified dead on the scene and the driver of the Toyota Hilux, Ms Zama Jiyane, who is also the mother of the little girl, was transported to the Standerton Hospital with serious injuries.
According to Const Fortunate Muvhula of the Val Police Station, a case of culpable homicide was opened against Ms Zama.
The Standerton Advertiser spoke to Admissions at the Standerton Hospital on 14 October and got no clear answer on whether Ms Jiyane was discharged from hospital or transferred to another hospital.
