Residents help police in arrest

Police commended residents for blowing the whistle that led to the arrest of suspects.

EVANDER – The Evander Magistrate’s Court dismissed the bail application of five people who were found in possession of illegal firearms on Monday, 24 October.

The five Lesotho foreign nationals were arrested in eNkomeni Village during a recent police operation.

Messrs Lebohang Mayiyane, Kahlolo Moiloa, Mokete Moleka, Thabo Pekache and Mpho Peso will reappear in court on Friday, 11 November.

Another Lesotho foreign national, Mr Retselisitsoe Nkoe, who was found in possession of dagga, was fined R1 500 or three months’ imprisonment suspended for two years.

Police commended residents for blowing the whistle that led to the arrest of the suspects.

Sgt Sibusi Mbuli, police spokesman, thanked residents for working with the police in the fight against crime.

“Residents alerted us about crime being committed and we responded swiftly and managed to apprehend the suspects.

“We encourage residents to keep up the good work and to report any form of crime.”
