Police request vigilance during upcoming festive season

The Sakhile Police urged the community to take necessary precautions during the upcoming festive season.

According to them, they have identified crime hot spots with the assistance of the community and will increase their visibility in these areas.

The police said they have engaged the Lekwa Municipality about the areas with no lighting.

They said dealing with this predicament will help to create a safer environment.

The police requested young women to avoid hopping from one tavern to another in the evening because it puts them in great danger of being attacked or even raped.

“During this time of the year many companies and institutions close for the holidays and people engage themselves in different activities.

“It also during this time when we experience an increased volume of assaults,” Sgt George Dhlamini, communications officer of the Sakhile Police, said.
