Armed men robbed Discount Wholesale in Mbonani Mayisela Street earlier today.
According to Capt Fanie Nhlabathi, communications officer of the Standerton Police, a shop assistant was shot during the incident.
“He was shot in the back of his head and in his chest,” he said.
Capt Nhlabathi confirmed that the thieves stole two phones from the shop assistant, R1 200 and another cell phone from a customer.
The injured shop assistant was admitted to the Standerton Hospital his condition is not yet known.
A case of business robbery was opened and the Standerton Police are investigating.
