A group of people without houses has opted to building shacks and settling next to a railway line on R23 Road between Standerton and Volksrust.
According to them, they decided to occupy this vacant land because they have nowhere else to go.
They said they do not receive any services from the Lekwa Municipality and do not know which ward they belong to.
They have one tap, but do not have proper flushing toilets and have created pit toilets.
