A woman was allegedly assaulted for wearing an ANC t-shirt in Sakhile recently.

According to the police statement, she was attacked by a man known to her.

The attacker allegedly made derogatory comments about ANC supporters before assaulting the woman.

The woman said she ignored the man when he was making the comments, but he man walked up to her and pushed her to the ground.

She claimed that he kicked her while she was lying on the ground.

According to her, she managed to escape and went home, but he followed her and allegedly pushed her again as she was going into her house.

She said she tried to defend herself with a sjambok and the attacker grabbed it and hit her with it.

The woman’s daughter-in-law was also allegedly attacked when trying to help her.

A case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm was opened.
