The Beukes family in Mahala Park were allegedly moved from where they used to live more than five years ago to a low-lying area where rain water flows into their home.
“We did not have this problem where we stayed, but now we are practically living in water,” Mr Mshoza Beukes, a family member, said
“We have reported the issue to the Lekwa Municipality, but all they do is pour gravel on the road which does not solve the problem,” he said.
According to him, when the water flows into their home, the electricity also trips.
“When we reported the power cuts, the municipal workers said that we have to dig a hole so they can access the cable in order for them to fix it.”
According to the family, they were not prompted on where the cable was situated and were surprised that the municipal workers expected them to dig the hole.
