SECUNDA – A 22- year-old man was arrested for attempted housebreaking recently.
It is alleged a community member saw him jumping the fence and entering the house.
The police were called who found him inside the house.
During investigation, the police established he had broken a window to gain entry.
Nothing was stolen.
Capt Bettinah Zondo, police spokesman, said: “We urge people who are staying next to green strips, to have outside spotlights so they can see people walking in the green strips.
“There is a tendency by criminals to cut the wires of the lights in the green strips.
“That gives them the chance to walk in the green strips with the stolen property without being noticed.
“We also appreciate the community for working with the police.”
The man appeared in Secunda Magistrate’s Court on 2 February.
