Mr Bibo Blessing Mubemerwi, a shopkeeper, was shot by unknown men in his shop in Rooikoppen recently.
According to the Sakhile Police, Mr Mubemerwi was shot in the stomach and the bullet exited his body through his left buttock.
“I was watching television with my family when we heard a loud noise,” Mr Leonard Bhengu, owner of the premises where the shop is, said.
Mr Bhengu also said they thought some one was throwing stones at their corrugated iron shack when they heard the noise.
“I went outside to investigate and saw Mr Mubemerwi covered in blood and he said he was shot.”
According to Mr Bhengu, he assisted the shopkeeper to get inside the house and they called the ambulance, the police and Mr Daniel Mthethwa, owner of the shop.
He confirmed that the ambulance transported the shopkeeper to hospital.
According to him, the men that shot Mr Mubemerwi did not take anything from the shop.
Mr Bhengu said Mr Mthethwa has since moved all the goods that were sold at the shop from his premises.
“They fear that the attackers might return,” Mr Bhengu said.
Mr Mubemerwi was admitted to the Standerton Hospital.
The police found him in hospital after receiving a complaint via the police radio.
The shop was closed after the incident occurred.
