eMBALENHLE – Two people were sentenced in the Evander Regional Court to life in prison for the kidnapping and murder of the 30-year-old Mr Tauraye Mithize in February 2012.
Siphiwe Mcube (35), Zola Sithole (25) and Amanda Mambiro (24) tortured Mr Mithize who died at their hands and was buried in a shallow grave near the Roodebank road.
After intensive investigation, the trio were arrested and they showed the police where Mr Mithize was buried.
His partially decomposed body was recovered.
Investigation revealed that the victim was accused of have stolen R9 000 from Mncube.
Mncube thereafter asked Sithole and Mambiro to assist him to torture Mr Mithize.
Mncube was sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment and Mambiro to nine years.
Both were declared unfit to possess firearms.
Sithole died in prison in 2015.
