SECUNDA – A shop was robbed in Secunda Square in the CBD on Sunday, 26 February.
Five unknown men who spoke mostly Tsonga and were armed with a handgun, held seven people, including the employees, at gunpoint inside the shop.
Four clients were forced into the store room where they were locked up.
The employees, including a security guard, were kept hostage while the robbers were loading clothes into big bags.
W/O Thulani Gamende, police spokesman, said the robbers went to the store room where they stole cell phones and tablets.
They fled without shooting or injuring anyone.
“They did not steal the cash in the tills.
“The police can not fight crime alone and we urge the community at large to join forces and work hand in hand with us in the fight against crime.
“Crime is affecting everyone in our communities.
“The police are looking forward to anyone with tangible information that can lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of crime that is haunting the community.”
