Sassa negotiates with Cash Paymaster Services

The Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, however assured all social grant beneficiaries that there will be no disruption to the payment of their grants.

The Social Security Agency (Sassa) has begun negotiations with Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) after no plans were in place to deliver grants to 17 million people on 1 April.

The Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, however assured all social grant beneficiaries that there will be no disruption to the payment of their grants.

Ms Zodwa Mvulwani, Sassa’s project manager, said to the watchdog public accounts committee that a new contract would be drawn up and negotiations were set to begin last Wednesday.

Ms Mvulwani also said that Sassa would not go to the Constitutional Court to seek approval for an extension of the contract that the court declared invalid years ago.

Mr Zane Dangor, director-general of the department, said the negotiations would be led by Ms Mvulwani in the absence of the CEO, Mr Thokozani Magwaza, who is on sick leave.
