Young woman from Bethal achieves new heights in Turkey

Young model now dreams of working with well-known magazines and fashion brands.

Beyanke Maartens (19), a coach and model at the Jenesaisquoi Modelling Academy, was crowned as the most beautiful face and second runner-up in the photo model of the world category in a beauty pageant in Turkey in May.

This pageant, hosted by the WBLF organisation in Kusadasi, Turkey, featured many international models.

“Being crowned second runner-up in the photo model of the world category was truly a huge surprise for me, but also an incredible honour and a dream come true,” said Maartens.

“This journey, with 17 other gorgeous contestants, has taught me the importance of perseverance, confidence, humility, and leadership.

“I will carry this title with great pride, not only for myself, but for my community, my province, and every young girl who dares to dream beyond her circumstances.”

Maartens’ journey as a model began when she was only four years old, and over the years, she grew as a model and as a person.

Travelling to Turkey and representing both herself and South Africa became one of the highlights of her journey so far.

“It was an amazing experience,” said Maartens.

“The country and its people are remarkable. The culture is rich and warm. I loved meeting people from different countries and proudly representing South Africa.”

She thanked her mother, Tanya Maartens, the owner of Jenesaisquoi Modelling Academy and said her mom had always been her biggest supporter.

When Maartens is not researching ideas or practising for her next time on the runway, she is training to become a hairdresser or enjoys photography, travelling, cooking and spending time with her friends and family.

Her next dreams and goals are to work with well-known fashion brands and magazines.
