Fraudsters target locals at ATMs in Secunda

Two fraud cases have been reported at Secunda Police Station.

SECUNDA – Police warn locals about fraudsters who target people who withdraw money.

They said two African men and women usually follow people after they have withdrawn money from ATMs and they then touch them.

Immediately thereafter another group approaches and tells the victim they need to pray for the money, because they were touched by witch doctors.

“They take the person to an isolated area where they steal their handbags or wallets.

“We want to inform the community they must not allow anyone to come near them after they have withdrawn money and never allow people to pray for their money,” said Capt Bettinah Zondo, police spokesman.
