Gospel is the way for ex-convict

He preaches to anyone who is willing to listen to his testimony

Ex-convict Mlungisi Zondo is hard at work preaching the Gospel and motivating the youth of Ermelo and surrounding areas.

With motivational talks and poems, he visits schools, churches and correctional facilities, spreading the Word with his testimony.

An ex-drug addict and founder of the Impicabadala Anti-Substance Organisation, he is taking the arts and culture route, writing poems, film scripts and novels to assist the youth in a recreational manner to take them off the streets or a possible life of crime.

His testimony dates back to his teenage years, having started smoking glue, which led to hard street drugs, which eventually saw him living on the streets for two years and doing crime to feed his habit.

His luck ran out when he was sentenced to life imprisonment for armed robbery and murder.  That is when he decided to change his life around, doing arts and crafts in jail.

After 10 years serving his sentence, he won an appeal, was released in 2012 and answered what he terms “his calling”.

He preaches the Gospel to anyone who will listen, but his main target is the youth, so he can help them to avoid the mistakes he made.  He hopes with funding and assistance from the community and businesses, to reach a wider audience because he is ready to take on the world.
