Government leaders attend memorial service in Standerton for 10 killed in crash

Community members gathered to pay their respects and support those affected by the tragedy.

A memorial service was held at Sakhile Stadium on May 27 in honour of the victims who lost their lives in the recent bus and taxi accident on the R39 in Standerton.

The service was attended by the Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie, who conveyed messages of comfort and condolences on behalf of the Mpumalanga Provincial Government.

Also present were Thulasizwe Thomo (MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport), Walter Mngomezulu (Executive Mayor of the Gert Sibande District Municipality), Phillip Vilakazi (National Union of Mineworkers president), SERITI representatives and various stakeholders.

The memorial service served as a moment of unity and solidarity with the bereaved families and affected communities during this difficult time.
