Beware two women who drug and rob men in eMzinoni

Police in eMzinoni have warned motorists to be vigilant after a man was allegedly robbed of his vehicle and belongings after being offered a sweet by two unknown women.

According to Sergeant Cynthia Mtsweni, spokesperson for the eMzinoni police, the incident was reported to police during the early hours of May 24.

Mtsweni said police received information about two women who allegedly target men at taverns and hitch-hiking spots between midnight and 03:00.

“It is alleged that these two women move around taverns asking for lifts or hitch-hiking while claiming they are going to their places of residence.

“Along the way, they request to accompany the driver to his place,” said Mtsweni.

She explained that once at the victim’s home, the suspects allegedly offer the unsuspecting man a sweet.

A few minutes later, the victim reportedly collapses, allowing the suspects to steal valuables.

“We request the community to be aware of such crimes and not to give strangers lifts because someone ended up losing his brand-new Isuzu X-Rider bakkie and other belongings,” she said.

Police also suspect that the women are working together with male accomplices during the commission of the crimes.

A case of theft of a motor vehicle and theft of other belongings has been opened at eMzinoni Police Station.

Mtsweni confirmed that no arrests have been made at this stage and investigations are continuing.
