Workers engaged in legal strike in Secunda

The striking workers are singing protest songs and are carrying placards calling for a wage increase.

Workers affiliated with Numsa and who work for a local business, are currently engaged in a legal strike in front of the premises of the business.

According to them they are striking for a wage increase.

“We are prepared to negotiate with the employer, but we have had no contact with them today,” said a striking worker.

He explained that he delivered the notice of intention to strike to the employer and that they were initially prepared to enter into negotiations with the workers, but these discussions have not taken place yet.

The striking workers are singing protest songs and are carrying placards calling for a wage increase.

The strike is peaceful and the workers are staying out of the way and are allowing people entrance to the business.
