Msobo Coal lends a hand to Community Learning Centres around Gert Sibande District Municipality

Msobo Coal wants to encourage the youth to go back to school and enter the CLC programme, previously known as ABET, because there are possibilities of them being employed at the mine after completion.

Msobo Coal Mine donated stationery last Wednesday to Community Learning Centres (CLCs) in the Gert Sibande District in a bid to uplift and assist learners studying towards their Grade 12 senior certificate.

This is an initiative started by the mine after it noticed the level of poverty and illiteracy in the townships of GSDM.

Their goal is to encourage the youth to go back to school and enter the CLC programme, previously known as ABET, in order to be employable as standards are rising with companies and government entities favouring matriculated individuals.

“The mine also has a programme in place where we award bursaries to deserving students who have completed studies at the various CLCs and this in a way motivates learners, because there are possibilities of them being employed at the mine after completion,” said Msobo Coal representative, Florence Mabulu.

Accepting the stationery on behalf of the CLCs, District Deputy Chief Specialist in the Department of Higher Education and Training in the Gert Sibande District (DDCS), Ms Dlamini, said these monthly donations would go a long way in keeping these CLCs open and operating and thanked Msobo Coal for their continued support.
