Mr Lucas Msimang was arrested by Sgt Vusimuzi Zulu, a sector commander from eMbalenhle Police Station, during a stop-and-search operation on Wednesday, 17 May.
The man also has a pending case of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition without a license.
During his arrest, eight 9mm live ammunition and a complainant’s identity document were recovered.
Police are investigating to see if the man can be linked to other cases.
