South African Council for Businesswomen learn about financial issues at Trichardt meeting

“It not how you do your tax, but there are ways and means to do tax and that is very important.”

The South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) hosted a meeting to inform businesswomen of the various kinds of businesses and the risks and benefits attached.

The meeting was held at Multilink Conference Centre on Thursday, 25 May. The speaker was Mr Rene Reyneke, a financial adviser.

He outlined what a small business is and the benefits thereof.

“Do not think a small business, a close corporation or a private company is meant to be a good benefit for tax purposes, because there are major risked involved.”

Mr Reyneke gave an example of people who register their companies correctly, but when they go to the bank for a loan, they stand as security. When the company goes bankrupt, they are in trouble though their companies were registered correctly.

Mr Reyneke advised business owners to make sure they have a medical aid.

Summit

Ms Shimona Mariah, chairman of SACBW Secunda branch, said a summit will be held in Centurion on 24 June for small business owners.

It will help business owners to identify mistakes they make and how to correct them.

Ms Mariah encouraged attendees to register as members of the SACBW Secunda branch as there are many free benefits, such as webinar classes.

Members also have the opportunity to network and advertise their businesses through the organisation’s social media.

SACBW Secunda branch raises money for a charity every two months and the money for May was raised for the Highveld Ridge SPCA.
