A serious accident near Grootdraai Dam yesterday (June 3) led to the discovery of 97kg of dagga.

Constables TG Mazibuko and MI Bruiners of Standerton SAPS Visible Policing attended the scene after a Toyota Yaris and a Volkswagen Polo collided on the R39 between Ermelo and Standerton at about 09:00.

Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel rushed the woman who was driving the Yaris to Mediclinic Highveld in Trichardt.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Johannes Ndaba, the woman was unresponsive at the time.

The Polo, which had Northern Cape registration plates and was packed with several black plastic bags, came to rest in a field.
