Practical Radical Economic Transformation South Africa launches in eMba
Pret SA has been launched to address unemployment issues in the province.
More than 500 unemployed youths and the elderly gathered at the eMbalehle Sasol Club to launch the Practical Radical Economic Transformation South Africa (Pret SA) organisation on Tuesday, 13 June.
This civil organisation’s goal is to create a unified body that will focus on addressing matters regarding unemployment in the area and to roll it out in the province.
According to the conveners, they noted a lot of instability in the province, including protests.
They said the core problem is not necessary service delivery, but unemployment.
Mr Sandile Mathebula, secretary general: Pret SA, said: “We want to bring together all the unemployed in the province to address these issues.
“We have united all the existing forums into this organisation so we can deal with the issues.
“As an organisation we seek to deal with these problems by engaging the government and the private sector.
“We have many private sector operations in the province.
“For example, 80 per cent of the power stations are in Mpumalanga, so as a unified body we will be able to talk with them with one voice.”
Mr Themba Sigudla, president of Pret SA, encouraged the attendees to unite like the youth of 1976 and to fight against social ills such as unemployment.
He said the unemployed must be bold and united and resist any form of division.
He said in the next three months there will be more action and change because the provincial government will address Pret SA.
Pret SA was also launched in eMzinoni on Saturday, 10 June and will continue to other areas of the province.
Local leaders of Pret SA are Messrs Sbusiso Hlolweni, John Nkosi, Morris Radebe, Lucky Dlamini and NcedoVumani.
