Fanyana Sibanyoni will lead Vukanini Taxi Association again

Sibanyoni said piracy, pick up and drop off point at the Secunda Mall, main rank, bad roads in eMbalenhle and long distance taxi patrol, are the main challenges.

Mr Fanyana Sibanyoni and his executive have been reinstated to lead the Vukanini Taxi Association for the third term.

They were re-elected on Tuesday, 14 November during Vuktas annual general meeting which was held at the eMbalenhle Sasol Club.

This is the first time in the history of the organisation that an executive leads for three terms in a row.

He reflected back to the days when he began leading the association and said it was his desire to take the association to another level.

“I remember when I began, we owed lawyers R160 000, we also owed the municipality, didn’t have a proper office, no rank and the administration was very poor.

He said piracy, pick up and drop off point at the Secunda Mall, main rank, bad roads in eMbalenhle and long distance taxi patrol, are the main challenges.

Despite the challenges, he said the association has also achieve a lot, including having a patrol vehicle, members buying cars and managing to pay them, getting new routes such as Nhlazantje and eMalahleni.
