Residents living at Davies Court and their loved ones up in arms over ‘eviction notices’

Residents living at Davies Court and their loved ones were up in arms after some residents received letters that looked like eviction notices.

Residents living at Davies Court and their loved ones were up in arms after some residents received letters that looked like eviction notices.

The elderly apparently received these letters on 13 December and although the topic of the letter is the intention to terminate lease contracts, the letter states that residents have 30 days to move.

The letter reads: “This letter serves to inform you about a report received by the municipality from the Davies Court clinic sister indicating that your health status has deteriorated to a stage that you can no longer be accommodated at Davies Court.

“The sister has already discussed your health condition with your family.

“Kindly be advised that this facility is not a nursing home and the municipality will not be liable for any injury, therefore you are given 30 days from the date of this letter to find a frail care centre that can accommodate you.”

The letter was signed by the acting municipal manager, Mr Thisha Mhlanga. Residents and their families voiced their anger against the sister and board members of Davieshof.
