Thieves con woman in the health section of Dis-Chem in Secunda Mall

Thieves distracted a woman in a Secunda shop and then stole her cellphones.

Ms Linette Rautenbach realized only several hours after being conned on 20 January that her belongings were stolen.

She was browsing in the health section of Dis-Chem in Secunda Mall when she noticed two women further down the aisle.

Video footage from the store’s security cameras shows how one of the women approached Ms Rautenbach, but kept a distance.

The woman said something to Ms Rautenbach that prompted her to move in closer.

Her handbag was in the top shelve of her trolley, but Ms Rautenbach let go of it for a few seconds to pay attention to the woman.

A man appeared on the other end of the aisle.

The moment Ms Rautenbach turned to the woman, the man moved in and shoved his hand into the handbag.

He grabbed something and walked away, followed by the two women.

This footage was posted on social media by her son, Schalk Labuschagne, who obtained it from the store.

The video has since been removed from social media.
